Pre Wedding Reminiscing

Reva: Look what I found. You're not gonna believe this.....number 14 Joshua Lewis.
Josh: Where did you find that?
Reva: I looked great in this. (Holds up cheerleader uniform)
(They put on the uniforms)
Josh: Do you have any idea what you used to do to me when you'd shake those pom-poms?
Reva: Yeah I knew. I just played dumb.
Josh: You used to drive me crazy.
Reva: I was a good girl.
Josh: With a bad reputation.
Reva: I know! Oh that used to make me so mad I'd wanna spit! All those times we used to make out at the Big Rebel Drive-In. You kept saying, "Please!" and I kept saying, "No!" and all those people still thought the worst.
Josh: Well that's because you had that look.
Reva: What look?
Josh: You had that look that said you would be......fun. (She smacks him) Actually I think maybe people were jealous. I think that was it.
Reva: Oh jealous? Joshua you could have had any girl in town. I still can't think about Lou Ann Monday without getting hot.
Josh: Neither can I actually. I'm kidding. I'm just kidding. I promise you I never messed around with her one time.
Reva: Oh....you lie.
Josh: I'm not lying! I'm telling you the truth. I just dated her to get back at you.
Reva: Do you remember how silly we were? How we used to break up before every home game?
Josh: And then we'd make up afterwards.
Reva: I used to come down here and cry....
Josh: And I would come down here looking for you.
Reva: Yeah and you used to always tell me about some big play you made in the game.
Josh: That's right, that's right. I made that last touchdown just for you at the last minute...fourth quarter.
Reva: Yeah, I'm glad you were able to score somewhere.
Josh: That's very funny. You used to make me do backflips practically just to get back with you all the time.
Reva: Yeah I should have made you do more.
Josh: Why? I never did anything wrong.
Reva: You dated Lou Ann Monday!
Josh: Do you remember that time you forced me to tell you something bad about Lou Ann Monday?
Reva: Uh huh. You told me she was stupid in Civics. I would have liked to have heard a little more than that.
Josh: Reva, I told you she had fat arms and she was hairy!
Reva: Yeah you did! Poor Lou Ann...
Josh: Poor Lou Ann! Poor me! Every time you left me I thought that it was the last I'd ever see of you. And then I came down here one time after a game and you weren't even here.
Reva: What did you do?
Josh: Well I went home and threw up actually. Mom thought I had been drinking of course.
Reva: Aw, you never told me that.
Josh: Of course I didn't tell you that, I'm a man. I can't tell you things like that. I bought you a charm bracelet instead.
Reva: Yeah, I loved that bracelet. I wonder whatever happened to that. You know, the last time I seen it was at Cross Creek....what?
Josh: You know how I feel about cheerleading uniforms. Please?
Reva: No! I wanna wait.
Josh: Oh boy! Where have I heard that before? Alright, alright! Fine, you wanna wait? I suggest you put your clothes on and we should go look for that wedding location because I might just decide that I'm not gonna take no for an answer!

Wedding Vows

JOSHUA:
Well, here we are. I don't know that there's anything left that we haven't already said to each other. A couple of hours ago I tried to think of something. I went down to the river by that big old rock we used to dive off of. Do you remember that? And I sat there and I tried to come up with some words but all I really got were pictures. It was like having my whole life flash before my eyes and you were always there. Right up there in front. I remembered the first time I ever saw you, the first time you ever came into our house. I believe I threw a softball at you. And I believe you chased me around with a bat after that. Pretty little girl with a real long blonde braid running down the length of her back. I was six years old and I fell in love. And now it's hard for me to remember a time that Ididn't love you. It's hard for me to imagine a season without you in it. And I thank God that I don't have to think about a time when you won't be there. I love you, Reva. And I love our little girl. And from this moment on we are going to be the family that we were always meant to be. The family that we always were. Always, Reva....

REVA:
....Always, Bud. Well, I looked out today and I saw everybody, all the people that I've loved all my life. The sky--so blue and that sweet smell coming off the river. And for a split second I thought this is Heaven, or this is what Heaven is gonna be like. And then I looked at you, Bud. And I said, "No. This is our wedding day." This is the day where the past meets the future. Right here, right now. I feel so full now, and so blessed. And you're right. There isn't much we haven't said to each other. We've made promises to each other ever since we were kids. And I'm gonna make the biggest promise that I've ever made to you right now. The rest of my life is yours. I wanna give you a home; a home that will feel like a safe harbor in a storm. Because giving to you is what makes me feel full. And I think that's the way it's supposed to be. I love you, Bud.

HB's Message to Jeva

HB: You want me to talk about Josh and Reva?
Billy: No Daddy, talk to 'em. Right in here.
HB: Oh. Let's see. Well look at 'em. A picture's worth a thousand words. I don't guess I ever seen two a happier couple than those two, unless it was Martha and me. She called this one, ya know. Always said you two would end up together. I didn't always believe it I gotta admit. But looking at you now as I stand here, I can't picture it any other way. So, you be good to each other, respect one another, and love one another as I know you do and the good Lord will do the rest. Oh, and just remember this: if things get rough, let Him carry you right in the palm of His hand. He will. God bless you both.

Honeymoon:

Josh: Okay, open your eyes. Happy honeymoon.
Reva: Oh Bud. It's beautiful. This place brings back alot of memories.
Josh: Yes it does....
Reva: Gimme some ideas!
Josh: I thought it might be a bit of a trick to get you to climb up to that ranger's station in that cute little outfit you got on there.
Reva: Why sir, I thought you might carry me up!
Josh: Not to mention the fact that this place was infinitely closer and I didn't want to waste any time traveling.
Reva: Well, ya know I can't help but notice that the accomodations have been upgraded quite a bit since the last time we were here.
Josh: Yes well I may be nostalgic, but I'm not crazy.
Reva: You are. Crazy like a fox.
Josh: So you like it?
Reva: I love it.
Josh: That's good. Makes me feel like it was worth while to carry all this stuff up.
Reva: I don't know how you did it. It must have took you forever.
Josh: Actually that kid Dylan gave me a hand.
Reva: He did?
Josh: Yeah. In fact I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm crazy right now because about halfway here we were loaded down with all of this stuff and it suddenly occured to me that I might not be able to find this place.
Reva: Well it was always hard to find. It's great. I didn't expect that I would have to take a cross country hike to get here in my big wedding dress. Can I ask you something?
Josh: Sure.
Reva: Do I look like a fool? I mean are there grass stains on my dress or is my hair falling down?
Josh: You look wonderful. You look abosutely beautiful.
Later....
Josh: Reva? Do you realize that we are married?
Reva: I hope so. Otherwise this dress is totally inappropriate.
Josh: But what do you think about that, huh?
Reva: I think that if married life is gonna be this good, I can go for it. Why? Are you having second thoughts?
Josh: No, no, no. No second thoughts at all. I enjoyed the ceremony, I'm glad that's over. We get to be alone...
Reva: With our caviar and champagne.
Josh: With our caviar and champagne. What is this? Look at that!
Reva: I think I'm gonna love being married to you. You do it so well. (opens the gift) Oh Joshua...
Josh: It was Mama's.
Reva: I know. I remember it. (Opens the locket) Oh Bud...my two favorite people. You and Marah. Thank you. Oh! Where's my bag? For you...
Josh: I just love surprises. (Opens her gift) Oh boy! A little trip down memory lane here. Oh look at those children. Who are those kids?
Reva: Come on! We used to look that good.
Josh: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You kept this Valentine?
Reva: Well I couldn't exactly throw away a Valentine that rhymed Reva with Believa.
Josh: Genius, pure genius!
Reva: You were always the sweetest thing.
Josh: Yes I was.
Reva: Joshua?
Josh: Reva, you gotta stop bobbing and weaving on me here, ya know?
Reva: Yeah, I know. There's something I have to tell you.
Josh: Alright, Reva. Alright whatever it is, I'm gonna say right now we're gonna work it out. I'm not gonna give you a divorce, that's it.
Reva: What?
Josh: That's what you want, isn't it? I mean I know you very well. When you say dramatic stuff like "Joshua there's something I have to tell you" it's usually something pretty bizaare. That's it, isn't it? You want a divorce, right? Right?
Reva: I married a crazy man.
Josh: Yes, you did. Tell me what it is Reva. Tell me what you wanna tell me. I can handle it. I assure you I can handle it.
Reva: Well this is our wedding night. And I thought it might be nice if, I don't know if it was different.
Josh: Well that's good because I brought along this book that I picked up...
Reva: No. That's exactly what I'm talking about. I want it to be romantic. I want it to be like a real wedding night.
Josh: Did it ever occur to you that I might want the same thing?
Reva: It's just that....this is so embarrassing.
Josh: You are embarrassed?
Reva: Well...Mindy gave me this nightgown and it's really pretty. And I don't want any cracks from you when I put it on. I want to be pretty for you.
Josh: Okay. I too believe in a more innocent time. And the groom discretely removed himself to the lobby...for a smoke.
Reva: Don't smoke. I mean go. I mean come back!
Josh: I'll just kinda look at the stars and make a wish. How's that?
Reva: Joshua....
Josh: I know. Believe me I know.
Reva: I'm nervous. I can't believe I'm actually nervous! Eh, make it more fun.
Reva: Nothing's changed. We're just....
Josh: ....married. Reva? Can I come in yet? (comes back inside) Reva?
Reva: Yes Joshua?
Josh: I love you.
Reva: I love you, too.
