Richard, Edmund and Cassie look at the headlines in the paper and Cassie apologizes to Richard. Richard sends for Rourke and Rourke offers his resignation. Richard refuses his resignation and tells him that he was just doing his job very well. Cassie is surprised that Edmund is even invited to the christening and Edmund explains what caused Phillip to punch him. Reva arrives and apologizes for the story getting out on WSPR. Reva offers that Cassie be a guest on her show to explain what really happened and Cassie loves the idea. Richard tells her to do as she likes and Cassie asks Reva to make sure that she is not too outrageous. They all get ready to go to the christening.

At Company, Harley and Frank try to get Buzz to go with them to the christening. Buzz refuses to go and asks Harley to boycott the whole thing. Harley gets upset and she and Frank leave. Selena tells Buzz that she agrees with Harley. Buzz says the Spauldings think they own the whole town and can't understand why Harley took Phillip back. Selena thinks he's just upset because he let Harley down again. He thanks her for bringing up his past again. She tells him that sometimes it's good to talk about the past and that's why she's doing the book with Blake. She thinks he's in denial but he says that she's been stressed out since she began the book. She tells him she has to do this so she can be free of her past and can move on to a future with him. Buzz says he only sees her and Harley suffering.

At home, Jim gets a call from Josh that he can't make it because he has the flu. He and Beth wonder what they are going to do without the godfather and Jim reluctantly realizes that they should ask Phillip to stand in for Josh. Lillian comes in and hears what they are suggesting but she thinks it is a bad idea. Lillian asks herself when Beth decided to fall in love with the nice guys. Jim calls Phillip and asks him to stand in for Josh during the ceremony. Phillip says that he would be happy to do it and Susan comes downstairs. Jim tells Susan about Phillip standing in for Josh and she gets very upset. They all leave Lillian and Susan alone and Lillian tells Susan how Phillip saved Beth when they were young. Lillian notices Susan's pearl necklace and gives Susan a matching pearl ring that she got for being her niece's godmother. They all leave for the church.

At the church, Phillip tells Alan that Josh won't be there and that he will be standing in as the godfather. Alan thinks that is the least they could do and Phillip warns Alan not to make one false move. Alan tells Phillip that he isn't man enough to rock the boat and tells Phillip that he can't make him leave. Phillip tells him that nobody's feelings matter except the baby's today and Alan tells Phillip that he sure does miss Beth. Alan goes on about how wonderful Beth is compared to Harley and Beth, Lizzie, and Jim arrive interrupting their argument. Phillip thanks Jim for asking him to step in for Josh and Beth and Jim ask Phillip if he would like to hold James. Susan is holding him and she protests but Beth and Jim insist. The Priest comes in and assumes that Phillip is the father but Beth and Jim explain and go with him. Phillip talks to James and tells him that he is trying to do what is best for him. He says that he doesn't want to ruin things for him and Harley and Frank arrives. Harley sees Phillip holding James and gets upset. He tells her about having to stand in for Josh as Godfather and she says she can't watch this. Frank asks her what's wrong and she tells him that it's too much for her. Jim comes out and tells her that she can do this for the baby. She agrees and they go back in. All the guests arrive and the christening begins. Jim, Beth, Susan and Phillip watch as the baby is baptized. Later at Jim and Beth's house, Alan taunts Harley about how simple she is and Frank takes her outside. Edmund tells Susan he was impressed with how well she handled herself while standing next to Phillip. She shows him the ring Lillian gave her but doesn't think she thanked her enough for it. Susan tells Lillian she loves her gift and thanks her. Alan asks to hold the baby as Phillip thanks Beth for allowing him to stand in for Josh. Alan arranges for a photograph of them all to be taken together. He pays the photographer to deliver the pictures to his house. Meanwhile, Lizzie gives Edmund one of her hats. Beth says that he should be honored because that's the hat Lizzie wore during her illness. She goes to check on her while Lillian tells Edmund she doesn't trust him in Beth's life. He says he may surprise her because there's more to him than meets the eye. Susan asks Phillip to let her hold the baby because Jim hates the fact that Phillip is holding him in his house. Phillip tells her she's very loyal and hopes Lizzie grows up just like her. Susan gets upset and tells him that she doesn't like hating him. She says she doesn't want to but she just does and runs upstairs crying. Edmund asks Phillip to step outside and he hits him. He says that was for Susan. Frank comes out and tells him he's lucky he has diplomatic immunity or else he'd have to arrest him for such a good punch.

Tuesday, October 3

Danny notices May crying and says that if Tony layed a finger on her, he'll cut it off. May says that it wasn't Tony and explains that she was downstairs and it looks like a movie set. He asks her what the deal is with her and old movies and she explains that it was the only channel that came in clearly when she was young. She tells him she would watch old movies while her father was at work. She thinks movies are better than life because the boring parts are cut out. Ross arrives and serves Danny with divorce papers. He says that once Danny finds a lawyer, they can begin to negotiate. He says that Michelle wants this over as quick as possible. Danny looks over the papers and tells him he doesn't need a lawyer because Michelle can have whatever she wants. Ross says he'll get to work on it and leaves. May asks if there's anything she can do. She offers him a drink at her apartment and he realizes she's talking about another movie. He asks her what the woman did to comfort the man and she kisses him. Danny says that she is very generous but regardless of the divorce, he still feels married. This reminds her of another movie and he tells her he's glad she's working there.

Buzz is angry with Phillip over the newspaper picture. Phillip and Harley look at it and Phillip says that Beth will be dead when Jim sees it. Buzz says that Phillip should be worried about Harley, not Beth. Harley and Phillip walk out and Buzz follows them. He continues to yell at Phillip until Harley asks him to stop it. Phillip says that it's not that big of a deal and Buzz thinks he's more concerned about Beth than his wife. Harley tells them that she won't run away like Buzz did. She says she just wants his support but only ends up hurting more. Harley walks away and Phillip follows. Selena tries to comfort Buzz by saying Harley didn't mean that. Harley asks Phillip not to apologize anymore because she's given him all she can give. Phillip tells her he loves her and she says that she knows love equals hurt. Phillip blames Buzz for her overreacting and she gets angry. She says she wishes she didn't feel anything anymore. Phillip thought things were going along okay between them but she says it's not working. She tells him that alone is safe for her and he asks if that's permanent. She needs time to think and asks him not to press her for answers.

Claire sees the newspaper article about the Spaulding family and asks Alan if he had anything to do with it. He asks her for her discretion but she tells him he's made a tactical error. She says that anyone can tell he's the one behind it because he looks so happy in the picture. She thinks that makes him vulnerable. She tells him that she handed Michelle her heart and she rejected her. She says that it was only after she backed off that Michelle opened up to her. She asks if Zack matters to him at all and he tells her that Harley won't let her anywhere near him. She thinks that James will be the future of Spaulding and he tells her that Phillip and Beth and their children should be there. Claire offers her help because she's already made an enemy of Harley. Alan asks her to go to Richard's party with him and she accepts then goes to the hospital.

Beth goes outside to pick up the newspaper and is upset to see the picture. She shows it to Jim and is surprised when he says it's not his problem because the picture identifies James as Beth and Phillip's. Meanwhile, Edmund sees the picture and comments that it's nasty business. Jim explains that the Spaudlings sell newspapers and that he is a nobody. Beth tells him that isn't true. She explains that her life with Phillip was a rollercoaster ride and Jim is her rock. She says that she's learning to trust again because of him. He leaves for work and she takes the newspapers outside. Edmund arrives and asks if he can help her and shows her the newspaper. Edmund asks if she thinks he had something to do with the picture being in the paper. He is surprised when she tells him the thought hadn't crossed her mind. Edmund wants her to know he would never do anything to boost Phillip's ego. Beth knows who was behind it and asks Edmund to watch James while she's gone. Edmund tries to tell her he isn't qualified but she says that Lizzie is upstairs if he needs help. He asks her what to do if he cries and Beth jokes that he should offer him half the kingdom. She says he'll be fine and leaves. Later, Edmund starts to panic when James starts crying. He tries to get him to stop and Lizzie comes down. James spits up on Edmund's coat and Lizzie says that should stop the crying. Edmund runs to get the stain off his jacket.

Phillip storms into the mansion angry with Alan. He tells him he'll see him in hell before he hurts his family again. Alan tries to deny having anything to do with the picture being in the paper but Phillip doesn't buy it. Alan thinks he's just upset because the truth is Beth and James are Spauldings. Phillip suggests that if Alan wants to keep what little family he has left he'll stay out of it. He runs into Beth while leaving and asks if Jim saw the paper. She says he's handling it well but Harley isn't. Phillip tells her he just spoke with Alan so there's no need for her to. She says it's time she fought her own battles and goes inside and tells Alan he is evil. She says the only reason Phillip hasn't walked out on him is because of loyalty. She reminds him that not too long ago he wanted her out of the family just like he's doing with Harley now. He says that was a mistake that he's trying to correct. She can't believe his nerve and tells him that she's married to Jim now. He compares Jim to Bradley and thinks she should protect Lizzie from him. He says that Beth is drawn to strong men to protect her. He tells her that if she ever needs help, she can come to him. He doesn't want her to risk the children's safety. He's glad she came over and they had their frank discussion. Beth tells him that if he messes with her family, she'll make sure the only contact he has with his grandchildren will be a Christmas card. Later, Beth goes home to find Edmund and James asleep on the couch. She asks Lizzie how he did and she tells her pretty good for an amatuer. Beth watches them sleeping and smiles.

Wednesday, October 4

Josh goes over to Olivia's apartment and she asks him about his flu. He says that he is feeling better except for the way that they left things at the hospital. He says that it isn't Reva but it is Reva's charge that short circuits them and he says that he has been alone for the past few days for the first time in a while. He tells Olivia that he has missed her and Olivia admits that their fight was all her fault by bringing Reva into their lives. Olivia admits that she is jealous of Reva and that she knows that she has to accept Reva. She tells him that she really missed him too and she suggests that they focus on the area of their relationship that doesn't have anything to do with Reva. She apologizes for all the grief that she has caused him and they get romantic. Afterwards, Olivia reminds Josh that they have to go to the party for Richard and Cassie. Josh wonders where Sam is and she says that he is out on the town. She tells him that she will meet him at Towers.

Harley tells Phillip that she has to stay home because she canceled the sitter and she says that she wants to be alone tonight. Phillip tries to console her and she tells him to stop it. She tells him that she is not Beth and he asks her why she has to bring her into everything. He tells her that she is the one that continues to put Beth between them. She can't believe what he is saying and says that she is just saying what is obvious. He tells her that she is making up all the proof that he has an undying love for Beth and it is keeping them stuck. He tells her that his past isn't going anywhere and he asks her again to go to the party with him tonight. She wonders how she thought she could ever compete with his high school sweetheart and soul-mate but he says that she has nothing to compete with. She tells him to have fun at the party and goes to check on Zack.

Meta tells Michelle that her apartment in New York is ready and Michelle promises to take good care of it for her. Rick comes in with all of Michelle's bags and she explains that she didn't know how long she would be gone. Michelle says that she needs to stay gone long enough to make sure of her decisions about the baby. Michelle asks Rick to take a bag of Danny's stuff to him and he says that he will. Michelle's car arrives and Meta goes to check on it. Michelle tells Rick to tell Danny that this was the only way and Rick tells her that she is turning into a woman that Maureen would be very proud of. She tells Rick that she feels like she is leaving him too but he tells her that he understands. He goes to put her bags in the car and Michelle tells Meta goodbye. Claire comes in and is hurt that she was going to leave without telling her goodbye. Michelle says that she knows that she doesn't approve of her keeping the baby and Claire explains that she is happy for her if she wants the baby. She hugs Claire and tells her goodbye. Michelle leaves and Claire breaks down.

Rick arrives at Millennium and tells Danny that Michelle is leaving for New York. He asks if she is living with Drew and Rick says that he knows that this hurts. He tells Danny to take care and he leaves. Danny throws his drink across the room and May fixes him a fresh one. Danny drinks and tells her that he really thought that he and Michelle had a shot together and prove their families wrong. He tells her that he was never good enough for her and May tells him not to say that. She tells him that right now is when he should have fun and take care of himself. Danny smiles and she says to herself that she wishes she could make him smile even more. Later, May sits on the bar and hums a song from a movie. He asks her about it and she sings some of the words to him. She moves closer to him and he begins to kiss her.

Phillip arrives to talk to Rick but Meta tells him that he isn't there right now. Meta tells him that she saw him in the newspaper and Rick returns home. Phillip is eating Rick's piece of cake and Meta tells him to shoot her. Rick tells Phillip about the look on Danny's face when he told him about Michelle and Phillip wonders if there is such a thing as a good marriage. Meta says that at least now people have choices in marriage but Phillip thinks that just gives people an excuse not to try. Phillip tells them that his current wife can't stop thinking about his ex-wife and he doesn't see any way for it to end. Phillip tells them that Harley refuses to go to the party for Richard and Cassie because Beth will be there and he invites Meta to go with him. She politely refuses and suggests that he take Rick. Rick loves the idea and jokes that there will be alot of beautiful women there because Alan is giving it. Rick tells Phillip that he will meet him there because he has to run an errand on the way. Phillip leaves and Rick tells Meta that he has to check on a sick friend. Rick goes over to Harley's and sneaks in using Michelle's keys. Harley is frightened and takes back the keys. She tries to get rid of him but he wants to know if she wants to talk first. He tells her that they have both had hard times with the opposite sex and they have both been disappointed. He tells her that she is expecting Phillip to pay for the sins of every man that has hurt her but she says that she just wanted to be first in Phillip's life. He explains to her the different ways that women and men look at first loves and he tells her that everyone has a history. She asks him if he ever cheated while he was married and proves that it is possible. She tells him that is all that she is asking and tells him to make sure the door is locked on his way out.

Thursday, October 5

As Beth and Jim get ready he wonders when their lives won't be involved with the Spauldings. Beth makes a joke about killing Alan and tells him that each time that they face him then they will be stronger. Jim jokingly pats her down looking for weapons. Meanwhile, Sam tells Olivia that she looks great and tells he that he will get ready to be her date. She tells him that she and Josh made up and he isn't too thrilled. Josh arrives and Sam sees them kiss. Sam stops them on their way out and asks Josh if his intentions toward Olivia are honorable. Josh is surprised at Sam's question and answers yes. He explains that he has been conflicted during his divorce but that he is where he wants to be with Olivia. Sam tells him that was a nice speech and asks if he plans on bringing Olivia home tonight. He says that he'll stay out all night if she does and she tells him to be home at midnight. Josh and Olivia leave for the party. In their hotel room, Richard tells Cassie that she has never looked more beautiful and she tells him not to patronize her. She tells him that he never tells her that she is smart and he apologizes. She says that she doesn't want to go to the party and she tells him that she is sick of protocol. She tells him that everyone will be laughing at her tonight because of the newspaper picture and he begs her to calm down and remember that she is surrounded by friends and family. Richard tells her that she is overreacting and she refuses to go to the party. He puts on his jacket and tells her that it is their job to attend this party. He instructs her to put on her shawl and deal with it. At home, Ross tries to rush Blake to get ready for the party but she isn't satisfied with any of her dresses. She tries on several dresses which he complements her on but she can't stand them. Ross begs her not to try on any more dresses because it is driving him crazy. He tells her that if she takes that one off then they will never get to the party. Blake takes it off and they get romantic.

Alan and Claire greet Beth and Jim at the party. Beth gives him the cold shoulder and Claire says it's just because she's still angry about the photograph. Alan thinks she'll get over it and asks Claire if she's enjoying herself. Claire says that this almost compensates for their interrupted evening. Alan doesn't want that because he's going to give her a private show later. Vicky is upset that Alan brought Claire to the party. David thinks he wanted a date, not a corporate merger. Vicky says that everything has to go perfect tonight and is happy when Phillip finally arrives. Frank asks David if Harley's there and Phillip overhears. Phillip tells him that Harley didn't come and he asks if she has the flu too. Rick wants Frank to come to the bar with him. Frank asks what Phillip did and Rick makes him promise that he won't hit Phillip. He tells him about Phillip's first reaction being concern for Beth after he saw the photograph in newspaper. Frank is angry but Rick tries to tell him that Phillip will always be worried about Beth because of their history. Frank says Phillip should get another punch in the eye. Frank asks what happened and Frank is eager to tell him about Edmund hitting him. Beth and Jim overhear and Jim is happy about Edmund punching Phillip. Vicky introduces Edmund and he shakes hands with Alan and Claire. Edmund comments on Phillip's eye and walks away. Alan tells Phillip to hide his sincerity better. Claire asks if Phillip has a black eye but he tells her it must be the lighting. Vicky introduces Cassie and Richard to the guests. Cassie says she hates Richard but he wants her to keep smiling. Richard says it's show time and Cassie says that she'll give him a show and walks away from him. Richard tells Phillip the place looks good but he says the credit goes to Vicky. Cassie excuses herself and Richard tells them that she's just nervous. He follows her and she tells him that he can handle this by himself and doesn't need her. Richard follows her to the terrace and Edmund tells Rourke that he'll handle it and goes after them. Richard tries to tell Cassie that this is silly and all her friends are there. He realizes nothing he says or does is right. Cassie apologizes and doesn't know what's wrong with her. She thinks about it and realizes the last time she felt this way was when she was pregnant. She tells him she must be pregnant now and they happily go back inside to dance. Richard wants to go back the hotel and celebrate. Edmund overhears her news and tells Rourke that they have to step up the time frame on their plan. Meanwhile, Pilar tells Bill that she would be enjoying the party more if it were at Millennium. She says that the Spauldings didn't even consider them. Bill tries to explain that Millennium wasn't the right atmosphere for a party like this. She gets upset thinking he means because it's run by a mobster and walks away. Bill follows her and tells her that isn't what he meant. Pilar apologizes saying that she's just worried about Danny. Bill wants her to put that out of her mind tonight so they can have a good time. Later, Phillip thanks Jim for coming even though the photograph was in the paper. He says he had nothing to do with it and Jim knows it was Alan. He asks about Phillip's eye but he changes the subject and quicky walks away. Alan compliments Claire on the way she carries herself. He tells her they will dance all night long. Rick encourgages Frank to ask a woman to dance. He tries but tells him he's been married too long and doesn't know how it works anymore. He says he needs to practice in front of a mirror and Rick thinks he's pathetic. Frank tells him if he's so psyched about it, he should go ask her. Rick starts over to her then turns around and comes back. They agree it's hard to be on the front lines again. Phillip comes over and asks Rick to dance. Frank cuts in and dances with Rick. Vicky is horrified and wants Phillip to make them stop. When he won't, she goes to Alan who tells a waiter to get rid of Rick and Frank. Josh and Olivia arrive and greet Alan. Olivia brings up their new deal and Josh tells Alan that negotiating is one of her many talents. Reva arrives at the party and greets Alan. He introduces her to Claire but can tell that they already know each other. She tells them that they aren't friends and he tells Reva that Noah is already there. She explains that she isn't with Noah and goes over to Woody. Woody tells her that she looks wonderful and she asks him what it is exactly that he does for a living. He tells her that he already told her he worked in a think-tank and she asks if Noah worked for him there. He tells her that Noah has never worked for him but she doesn't believe him. She persists and Woody goes to get her a drink. Noah comes over and begs her to quit while she is ahead. She wonders how much trouble she can really get into with a man who thinks for a living and walks off. Noah takes Woody aside and begs him to stop this now. Reva runs into Olivia and asks her to tell Josh hello. Olivia tells her to tell him herself and Reva asks surprised that she can get within 100 yards of him. Olivia taunts her that Josh has moved on and Reva points out that she has moved on too. Olivia comments on how old Woody is and tells her to go for it. Reva and Woody entertain everyone including Noah with the Tango and dance right out of the room.

Friday, October 6

At Company, Buzz jokes with Sam about him not causing Buzz to do anything that will put him in jail. Susan tells everyone that she is going to find a way to get to the concert. Max thinks she should respect her parents wishes. Sam suggests they make more copies of their CD and sell them to their friends. Susan loves that idea but Max tells them it's illegal. Sam tells him that they'll send the recording artists what they would have gotten from the corporations. Tony arrives to see Marah and she reluctantly introduces him to everyone else. Shayne doesn't like that Tony and Marah went out on a date. Marah threatens to tell Reva something she has on Shayne if he tells her about it. Tony asks about the bike outside and Sam says it's his and for sale. Tony asks what he wants for it but it's too expensive. He suggests they roll dice for it and Sam agrees. Susan gets some dice from Buzz who watches the game. Tony rolls an eleven each time he rolls the dice and Sam loses and hands over the keys. Buzz comes over and tells Tony that he'd like to roll him for the bike. Everyone tries to stop him but Buzz is determined. Tony starts rolling and Buzz catches him using his own pair of dice. Sam can't believe he didn't catch that. Buzz gets the keys back and tells Tony not to come back to Company again. Sam wants Buzz to teach him how to recognize that trick but Buzz isn't going to do anything that will put him in jail.

Cassie can't believe she didn't notice the signs before. Richard doesn't want them to get too excited until they know for sure. He tells her they will fly home tomorrow and go to the doctor. Cassie says they can't wait that long and wants to go get a home pregnancy test. He tells her they can't do that because it would start rumors. She wants to send Jenny but Richard says that'll start rumors too. Cassie says they have ot find someone to buy them a test and wants to go find Reva. Meanwhile, Beth finds Lillian looking at herself in the mirror. She is thinking about getting a facelift but Beth tells her that she's still beautiful. She wants to know what's really going on and Lillian tells her about a friend that died recently of breast cancer. She can't understand why women don't get a mammogram when they should. She realizes Beth hasn't had one this year and tells her she is going to make an appointment. Beth wants Lillian to find a man who will make her happy. They make an agreement that if Beth will go have a mammogram, Lillian won't say no to the next man that asks her to dance, even if it's Alan. Later, Rick and Phillip depress Frank and he asks Lillian to dance. Edmund cuts in between Jim and Beth and Jim allows him because he punched Phillip. Beth thanks Edmund and he tells her that he and Susan understand one another and are kindred spirits. Phillip sees them dancing and Rick tells him to calm down. Phillip gets even more upset because he feels that he has done everything that everyone has wanted him to do and everyone still blames him for everything that goes wrong. Rick apologizes and tells him that he is right about that. Phillip tells Rick that his problem with Edmund is the fact that he is zeroing in on the most vulnerable member of these families that are already in chaos. Rick tells him that he should just step away from this but Phillip disagrees and goes over. Lillian and Frank see what is happening as Phillip asks Beth what she is doing with Edmund. Beth quietly tells him that they are dancing and Lillian grabs Phillip for a dance. Edmund takes Beth back over to Jim and apologizes for the scene. Jim tells him that is quite alright. Phillip questions Lillian about Beth and she tells him that it is none of their business. They finish dancing and then Rick and Lillian have a dance. Rick asks her how she thinks Phillip is doing just as Phillip walks over to Edmund and taps him on the shoulder. Phillip tells him that he will be all over him fast if he even thinks about trying anything with Beth. Edumnd tells him to stop trying to rescue Beth as a hobby because it is only going to cause him trouble.

Reva and Woody return to her house and she catches him pilfering through her desk. Reva brings him champange and caviar and explains that she wants him to be comfortable. He asks her what she really wants and she tells him that she wants some straight answers. She tells him that she heard them at the hospital and she tells him that Noah knows things that he shouldn't know about. He jokes that he could tell her everything but then he'd have to kill her. She suggests they play 20 questions and he suggests strip poker. She agrees only if he plays for her clothes and she plays for answers to her questions. Reva wins the first hand and she asks him about Noah's kung fu, fluent Spanish and military code talk. He tells her that Noah was trained in Doctor's International because of the South American countries he was sent to and Reva notes that Noah said that he was sent to Africa. Reva loses her shoes and then wins another hand. She wastes that question and he seriously tells her to drop the investigation because it is dangerous. She tells him that she can't do that but that she is going in prepared. Reva loses her dress and Woody tells her to think about if she is ready to play another hand. Woody tells her that she doesn't need answers but that she needs warmth in the night. He takes her in his arms and she tells him no. Woody falls to the ground just as Noah bursts through the door.

Monday, October 9

David runs into Ruth at the party. He didn't realize she was working tonight and she tells him she needed the extra money for Charlie's hospital bills. Vicky interrupts them and asks David to dance. She tells Ruth to attend to some of the guests who are looking for a waiter. Later, David watches as Vicky threatens to fire Ruth after she tells off one of the guests for pinching her. David asks Ruth what happened but she tells him that she needs the money so he has to stay away from her. Vicky interrupts them again and dismisses Ruth. David tries to ask her what happened but one of the waiters accidentally spills a tray of drinks on her. Vicky gets upset and threatens to fire the waiter. She starts yelling and David tries to calm her down and get her out of there. When the elevator won't work, they have to walk by Ruth who is trying to contain her laughter.

Billy goes to Company and tells Susan she's the only one who isn't at the big party. He tells her to call him Billy and admits he's been avoiding her. She asks him why and he says that she's his granddaughter but he doesn't know her. She offers to give him one of her school pictures. Susan suggests they play 20 questions to get to know each other better and they reveal some of their favorite things. She tells him about wanting to go to the concert in Chicago but her parents won't let her. She thinks she will be grounded for the rest of her life because she ran away. Susan thinks he's going to yell at her too but Billy admits he's made a lot of mistakes too and won't judge her. He says that between the Lewises and Shaynes she has a lot of fire in her. He tells her that she'll always have a place to come to. Billy gives her a key to his apartment and tells her the next time she runs away to come to him, no questions asked.

At home, Harley tries to take her mind off of her problems. She ends up calling a babysitter for the evening. She takes her dress out of the closet and tells herself that she can do this. Meanwhile, Phillip interrupts Beth and Jim out on the terrace. They ask him to stay but he doesn't think he'd be good company. Jim offers to get him a drink. Phillip thinks Jim is enjoying him being unhappy but Beth tells him that Jim is trying to be nice. She asks how Harley is and he tells her she isn't handling the picture very well. Beth says she's sorry and Phillip tells her that Harley is having problems adjusting to their history. Jim tells him that their history is the hardest part for him too. Phillip asks how he deals with it and Jim says he tries to focus on the present. He says that some days he hates Phillip and some days he doesn't think about it. He says he's sure Harley feels the same way. Phillip wishes Harley could deal with it the same way and she arrives. They talk and Jim asks her how she's doing. She realizes they've been talking about her and gets upset again. Phillip tries to convince her that Jim was just trying to be nice to him and help them out. He hugs her and asks why this keeps happening to them. Harley asks him what if she can't do this anymore and he tells her they can.

Noah decides that Woody had a heart attack and frantically asks Reva if she ever left Woody alone in the house. He checks to see if Woody made any phone calls from there and finds out that he didn't. Reva wants to know what is going on and Noah tells her that curiosity nearly got her killed tonight. He tells Reva to search Woody's pockets and she finds a syringe in the lining of his coat. Noah tells her that it is a lethal drug that kills instantly and that it is standard issue. Noah admits that Woody was an operative for a secret government agency and that he worked for Woody for 10 years. Noah explains that he wanted to get out and could have if Reva hadn't gotten into this investigation. He tells Reva to clean up and he says that the story is that she turned Woody down at the door. He admits to her that she is right on about the workers being illegal aliens and that San Cristobel is the filter for them to be sent as workers for the mob in the US. He tells her that they have to get Woody to his room at Towers and they hear Marah coming home. Reva quickly puts on her coat and they lift Woody up off the ground. They tells her that Woody had too much to drink and they leave with him. Marah notices Reva's dress on the floor and is confused. In the car, Reva asks why Woody would have wanted to kill her and Noah explains that her involvement in the case would have caused the truth to come out at the wrong time. Tony interrupts them and Danny wants to know why he's there so early. He tells him that he has no life so he wakes up early now and he could either come to work or go to mass with Ray. He sits down and starts eating with them. Danny tries to get him to leave them alone and work on inventory but Tony doesn't think it's fair that he has to work when Danny gets the woman. Danny tells him he sees red whenever he's told no. Tony asks for the chance to prove him wrong by giving him the green light with Marah. Tony lets it be known that Danny and May spent the night together. May is embarrassed and goes to make more breakfast for them. Danny is angry and tells Tony that he's moving on with May. He suggests that Marah was sent by God to make him a better person. Ray isn't buying it and tells him he's heard all of Tony's promises to clean up his act before. Ray tells him he loves him and thinks maybe he can change. He says that it will be by the grace of God though and not because of someone else. He says that he has a lot of hope and thinks maybe Tony does deserve a chance. Tony explains that he understands he's taking the risk of falling on his face but thinks it's worth it. Noah tells her that they have to make the room look like Woody had a heart attack here and they arrange the room. Noah says that next he has to call Washington and lie through his teeth. Noah makes the call while Reva arranges Woody in bed. He explains that last night Woody told him that Reva didn't know anything about the case and that he never wanted to see her again. Reva thanks Noah for putting himself in the hot seat and he suggests that she go home to get some rest. Reva arrives home and the kids catch her looking for her dress. Marah tells her that she hung it in her closet and suggests that she put her dress on the next time she goes out. They wait for an explanation about where Reva has been and she says that she was out working all night. They don't believe her and she gets defensive. Reva gets upset and tells them the whole story about Woody and Noah. They laugh at her and think that she is drunk so Marah goes to make some coffee.

He tells her to go to the bathroom and do whatever it is that needs to be done. Later, she looks at the box for results and is confused. Richard asks if they are pregnant or not and she shows him the color the stick turned. She explains that white is negative and purple is positive. It turned pink. Richard takes the box and reads the instructions and what the results mean. They get another test and he assures her this one will guarantee pregnancy. Afterwards, Cassie tells Richard to light a cigar because he's going to be a daddy. They talk about how wonderful it will to have a little boy or little girl. Blake is relieved and tells him that she thinks Selena is mixed up in a mob murder. Blake thinks that she should get the whole story from Selena and goes to get her computer back. At company, buzz explains to Harley what Blake did to Selena on Reva's show. David arrives and takes Harley aside to talk to her about a case. He tells her that Blake described the Miguel Santos murder on Reva's show and that her source must know something about it. He can tell that she knows something about it but Harley denies it. Harley is sure that Blake doesn't know anything about the murder and he says that he is going to get a tape of the show from WSPR. He says that he is going to question Selena again because she was nervous last time he talked to her about it. Harley asks to be the one to question Selena and asks him not to talk to Blake until she has talked to Selena. David leaves and Harley asks Selena to talk for a minute. She point blank asks Selena about Miguel Santos's death and Selena avoids the questions. Selena says that she did open up her heart to Blake but it wasn't about the Santos murder. She admits that she did see Miguel around but that she didn't hang with his crowd. Selena suggests that Blake got this story and mixed it in with hers for the book. Harley says that since they are going to be family they have to be looking out for one another and tells her to call her if anyone hassles her about this. Blake arrives and Selena shoves her out the door. On the porch, Blake asks for her computer back and reminds her that she offered to let the book go on two separate occasions. Selena tells her that she didn't break into her house and realizes that it must have been a Santos. Blake realizes what she means and apologizes. Blake explains that her slip up was a mistake of enthusiasm and Selena tells her that she hasn't heard a word from her about Miguel Santos. Blake agrees that she hasn't and Selena tells her to say that she read about Miguel's death in the newspaper. Blake realizes that mike is Miguel and reminds Selena that she told her to tell her the whole truth. Selena hopes that the computer is at the bottom of the lake. Selena comes back inside and buzz asks her what the problem is. She tells him that Harley grilled her about the Santos murder and admits to him that this is exactly what he tried to spare her from. He tells her that he has lost all the women in his life and if anybody wants to get to her then they will have to go through him. Meanwhile, Maria reads the files off of Blake's computer about the mobster's death. She remembers Miguel's horrible death and Tony arrives. She tells him that this is what she was looking for. She tells Tony that Blake is writing about Miguel's murder and tells him to follow Blake around to find out who she meets with. She tells him that she thinks he can be counted on and he vows to do a good job for her. Tony returns and tells Maria that he followed Blake to a restaurant where she had words with a waitress named Selena. He explains that she told Blake to play it cool with the police and that Blake realized that Miguel was mike. He apologizes for having to tell her this stuff but Maria is happy that now she may have a chance to avenge her son.

Edmund places a call to Cassie's doctor and asks him for a meeting. Edmund meets him at his office and gives him a folder full of blackmail photos. The doctor is shocked that Edmund has pictures of him with one of his young patients and he tries to explain. Edmund reminds him of his wife and family's reactions if the photos ever surfaced and tells him to tell Cassie that she is not pregnant. The doctor thinks it is crazy because eventually Cassie will figure out that truth and Edmund assures him that he will get a chance to reverse his diagnosis. Later, the doctor calls Edmund and tells him that Cassie is on her way for an appointment and that he doesn't think that he can lie to her.

Tuesday, October 17

Edmund asks the doctor why he won't go through with their plan. The doctor tells him that he won't put Cassie and the baby at risk. Edmund tells him that it will only be temporary. Richard and Cassie arrive at the doctor's office and he gets off the phone. Edmund is angry. The doctor tells Richard and Cassie that they are looking well and they tell him the good news that she's pregnant. Cassie explains that they don't know for sure but that she took two home pregnancy tests and got positive results. She tells him about her mood swings lately and knows that she's pregnant. The doctor wants to run some tests so Cassie tells Richard to be thinking of baby names. Later, Cassie is anxious to hear the results of the tests. Richard goes over some of the boy names he thought of but Cassie doesn't like any of the traditional Winslow names. The doctor comes in and accidentally knocks over a picture of his wife and daughter. Richard tells him he must know how anxious Richard feels to start a family. A knock at the door interrupts them. It's Edmund with the doctor's wife and he invites the doctor to go to lunch with them. Edmund sees Cassie and Richard and apologizes for intruding. Edmund agrees to take the doctor's wife out alone instead. Outside, he tells her he has to make a phone call and will meet her in the car. Cassie tells the doctor she can't wait any longer and asks for the results. The doctor tells them that she isn't pregnant as Edmund listens through the door. Cassie can't believe it. She knew she was pregnant and Richard tries to comfort her. The doctor assures them she can have children, just not this time. Cassie believed that it felt right and wanted to give Richard a child. They go home and Richard tries to cheer Cassie up. Meanwhile, Edmund visits the doctor again and congratulates him on his performance. The doctor won't accept his money and tells him he wants him out of his life. He says that he felt awful about how devastated Cassie and Richard were. Edmund tells him he won't like the second part of the plan then. Later, the doctor calls Richard and tells him he wants to set up another appointment. Richard happily says he'll get Cassie but the doctor wants to see him, not her.

Blake runs into the bedroom and hides her face in the pillows. Ross asks what's wrong and she tells him she's scared. She explains that Selena didn't take her computer. She tells him that the man Selena described in her stories was Miguel Santos. She is afraid someone in the mob will try to kill her. She thinks that maybe nobody saw Reva's show but Ross thinks she could be in trouble. He tries to calm her down and reminds her that everything she's written is a matter of public record. He thinks she should just act normal but Blake tells him she's never leaving that room again. He tells her that nothing will happen and thinks she should go to the opening of Inferno. Blake reminds him that Danny owns that place and it would be like going into the lions den. Ross thinks that is the perfect way to show them that she doesn't know anything. Ross tries to convince him that he's not the enemy but they have to find out who is. Buzz tells him about questioning Danny who claims to be innocent. Ross thinks it could be whoever killed Miguel. He tells Buzz he can't say anymore because Blake is his client. He says that Selena is hiding something and they have to find out what it is in order to protect everyone. Buzz goes back into the room and watches Selena sleep. He wants her to tell him what's going on so he can help her. Selena says Miguel's name. Buzz goes back into the hall and pretends that Selena told him about Miguel. Ross realizes he doesn't know anything and says that Selena has to tell him so they can protect her and Blake. Buzz is upset because he doesn't know what's going on. He wonders how he is supposed to maintain his sanity and walks off.

At Company, Susan, Marah and Sam talk about how much money they've made selling CDs. Susan tells Marah that Tony is behind her and Marah sees him holding a sign asking for a second chance. Marah is angry with him but he tells her he has something for her. Susan reminds Tony that Buzz told him not to come back there. Tony tells them he brought them something for their CD scam. He opens a box and gives them some blank CDs to use. Sam thinks he stole them but he claims he got them wholesale. Tony asks to speak to Marah alone but she says they can talk in front of her friends. Marah is still angry about him dumping her the other night. Tony says that he had to take care of his grandmother. Sam tries to tell Tony that Marah doesn't want to talk to him and they end up arguing. Marah agrees to speak to Tony alone and admits she was worried Tony would hurt Sam. Tony tells her he wouldn't do that to her friends. Tony tries to explain that he respects his grandmother and had to do something for her. He says that Marah must have a grandmother so she knows what he means. Marah admits that both of her grandmothers are dead. She tells Tony that she was named after both of them, Sarah and Martha. Tony thinks it's interesting that she has such a great family. She tells him it's not that great but it's something he's never had. Marah thinks Tony is trouble because one minute he's sweet and the next he's beating somebody up. Buzz arrives and wants Tony to leave now. He is very angry and hopes Marah isn't involved with the Santos family. Marah leaves and Susan asks Buzz if something happened to Selena. He admits he doesn't know what's going on with her because she won't tell him. Susan tries to assure him that Selena is probably just embarrassed about what happened and will talk to him eventually. Sam listens as Susan tells Buzz that he's the one everyone comes to with their troubles. Later, Sam tells Susan that she was good with Buzz. They talk about her family and how Harley put her up for adoption. She says that she's not that close to Billy and Reva because Jim is still around and she thinks it would be disloyal. Sam thinks Susan is a substantial person and she seems happy to hear him say that. Meanwhile, Buzz goes back to see Selena who is still sleeping. He tells her that when she wakes up she is going to tell him everything. He says he can't lose someone he loves again. He remembers Jenna kept a secret from him and he couldn't get to her in time. He vows he won't let that happen again.

Danny finds May getting her tray ready for tonight's business. He asks her what's wrong and she tells him Rick turned her world upside down. She says he showed her pictures of diseased lungs and now she feels like a tool of the tobacco industry. Danny offers to ban Rick from Inferno but May feels the damage is already done. Danny thinks he has a solution. He tells her that what she really enjoys is the persona she has created. He thinks she could put anything in her tray and sell it. She tells him that Rick already suggested she sell candy but it doesn't have the same effect. Danny thinks she should sell flowers and leave the cigars underneath for those who still want them. May likes the idea and comes up with different flowers she could sell for different seasons. Danny tells her that he got some flowers for her to sell just in case she liked the idea. She suggests she could sell mistletoe during Christmas but Danny doesn't like that idea. He says that every guy that came in would want to kiss her and he's the only man who can do that. Claire arrives at Inferno and realizes it was Alan who sent the limo for her. He asks her to join him and calls May over for a cigar. He sees that she's hiding them under flowers and she tells him that they could be injurious to his health. Alan takes two anyway and quotes a line from one of the movies she likes. He gives her a big tip and tells her to go buy the whole movie collection. She offers him a flower on the house but Claire isn't interested. Alan sees Jim playing blackjack and Claire tells him not to try to push his buttons tonight. She says that's what got Alan in trouble to begin with. Olivia and Josh arrive at Inferno and see Alan. Olivia tells him that they should go speak to Alan and Josh is reluctant. She tells him to let her do the talking. They go over and Olivia thanks him for coming to an agreement with her. Alan makes a comment about agreeing with an offer when it is so charming and Claire is jealous. Olivia asks Claire to meet for dinner sometime and she and Josh leave Claire and Alan alone. Josh tells Olivia that she is a treasure. They notice Jim at the blackjack table and are surprised that Jim has the extra cash to gamble with. They go over and suggest that Jim walk away with his winnings and he thanks them for their concern but tell them that he can hold his own at the blackjack table. Josh is surprised when Jim tells him that the Santoses fronted him the membership fee and then Jim wins a large hand. They go back to their table and Olivia tells Josh not to worry about Jim because he obviously knows what he is doing. Jim cashes out his chips and they agree that he must know when to walk away. Meanwhile, Claire reminds Alan how rude he was to her the other night and she tells him that she won't be another one of his conquests. He tells her that he loves it when she talks business.

Later, he arrives and Beth greets him with a drink. Edmund wonders why she called him for help and she tells him she needs some financial advice. Edmund doesn't understand her need for money when she has the Spauldings around. She says nobody can know what she's doing. She tells him she has some jewelry that she wants to sell so she will have money to invest. She says that she can't sell it herself because everyone in town would find out. Edmund says that Jim will find out the truth once she comes into money and then realizes she plans on lying about where she got it. He agrees to help her. She shows him the jewelry and he puts a ring and necklace on her. He puts a tiara on her head and tells her she looks just like a princess. They get close and Beth asks how much it's worth. She is surprised at the amount he gives her and thinks that they could certainly live off the interest on that. Edmund wants to know why she needs money so badly. She finally admits she told Jim she wanted to have another baby. She tells Edmund not to look at her like that but he thinks she knew he would try to talk her out of it. He says that what she really wants is for him to save her from herself and her marriage. He almost kisses her and then tells her goodnight and leaves.

David thinks the two break-ins could be related and Frank thinks they should start worrying about Blake, Selena and Buzz. Selena and Buzz arrive and Harley starts questioning her. Selena gets upset and tells them that she made the mistake of telling Blake about her past and now everyone thinks she's a liar. They try to convince her that they just want to help and think she is afraid to tell the truth. Selena screams that she didn't do anything wrong and didn't kill Miguel. She believes that's what they all think happened. Harley goes over to calm her down but Selena tells her to get away from her. Everyone but Buzz leaves and he goes over to smooth things over but she won't talk to him either.

She asks him to go with her to the market. Ross arrives and Danny introduces him to May. She leaves and Ross congratulates him on the success of the club. Danny knows that's not why he's there and Ross tells him he has the divorce papers. He explains that Danny and Michelle will each take out what they brought into the marriage. They both have a beer and Sam tells Tony that he wouldn't trade places with him either. Sam tells him about how he has traveled his whole life. Olivia arrives and they hide the beers. Olivia shows Sam some papers and tells him to explain. It is a doctor's bill and she is upset that he didn't tell her about his problems with his medication. He tells her that it is ADHD and not cancer and that he isn't bothered by it at all. Olivia asks him what he is up to and what he thought she was about to get on his case about. He avoids the question and tells her that Springfield is a trip. They agree to dinner tonight and he leaves.

At the hospital, Michelle tells Rick she was having back pains like she did with the previous pregnancy. Claire arrives and Michelle tells them she wanted to be with both of them. She explains that her doctor in New York was out of town so she came back to Springfield. Rick tries to calm her down and tells her that it's good that she isn't cramping. Claire orders tests to be done and assures Michelle she will do everything she can to save her baby. Michelle points out that her baby is also Claire's grandchild. Claire leaves to go check on the tests and is obviously shaken up by what Michelle said. Michelle tells Rick about all the places she took the baby in New York. She tells him she missed him and asks how he's doing. He tells her about meeting someone and she laughs when he says it was Frank. He tells her he's lonely and has been spending a lot of time with Meta. Michelle has another pain and Claire comes back saying they aren't going to wait any longer for the tests. All the tests come back normal and they believe Michelle is just having back pains and got upset because of the last miscarriage. Rick says he and Michelle are glad that Claire is there. They agree to keep Michelle overnight for observation. Ray notices Michelle sleeping as he's looking for another room. He walks in and hears her call for Danny in her sleep. She wakes up and sees Ray and asks him to pray for her baby. She says she doesn't want to lose this one too. Ray says a prayer for them and leaves. He thinks Danny should go there right now. Danny rushes out.

Selena apologizes to Buzz for her behavior earlier. She understands that he's just worried about her and thinks she owes David and Harley an apology too. Buzz tells her that he wants her to feel safe but sooner or later she's going to have to go back to the firehouse. He doesn't think she trusts him enough to tell him the truth. Selena says that she does trust him but that he needs to just let it be right now. He asks if that's really what's best and she says yes. She wants him to get back to work because she will be fine. Buzz goes to the back and Selena is surprised to see Maria come towards her. Maria asks her to sit down and tells her that she has something that belongs to Selena and she has something that belongs to Maria. Selena doesn't know what she's talking about so Maria tells her that she has Selena's locket and Selena has her grandchild. Maria says that they've lost so much time already and wants to know if it's a boy or a girl. Selena pretends she doesn't know what Maria's talking about so she threatens to ask Buzz about it. Selena doesn't want Buzz involved. Maria realizes he doesn't know and assures her it will be their little secret. She tells Selena that she is part of the family now since she is the mother of her grandchild. Maria invites her to the house so they can discuss it and tells her she'd better not disappoint her. Maria leaves and Selena remembers the fight she had with Miguel over telling Carmen the truth. She remembers calling Carmen and telling her she was the other woman, the woman Miguel loved more than anything. Selena writes Buzz a note and leaves. Later, Harley and Frank arrive wondering where Selena went. Buzz tells them the note said for him not to worry. Harley tells him that something is odd about the whole thing and there are too many coincidences with Blake and Selena both being robbed after Reva's show. Buzz asks Harley if she thinks Ross is the type that would panic easily and she says no. He tells her that Ross came to him and practically begged him to get the truth out of Selena so they could protect her and Blake. Harley wants Buzz to tell them what he knows but he doesn't know anything. They have to find out Selena's secret. David thinks Selena might have gone to see Blake but Buzz thinks she would have told him that. Buzz says that whatever it is has to do with Miguel Santos and that's all he knows. Harley tells him they will find Selena. Meanwhile, Selena goes to see Maria. She tries to be polite to Selena but she wants her to get to the point. Maria takes out the locket and apologizes for the way it was handled. She tells Selena she wasn't supposed to be hurt. Maria wants to return what is hers and gives her the picture of Drew. Maria says the other pictures belong to her and she wants to know the truth about Selena's relationship with Miguel.

Jim returns home but says he has to go back to work later. He sees the jewelry and asks if it's real. He asks if Phillip gave it to her and thinks she didn't want to rub his nose in it. He sees the evaluation papers and Beth explains that a friend of Edmund's appraised it for her. She says she told him about wanting to have another child. Jim doesn't want gifts from Phillip backing his family's income. Beth says she just wants to have his child and he apologizes for being a jerk about money. He tells her they can have another child and he'll take care of it. Beth wants to get started right away but he reminds her he has to go back to the office. She says she doesn't see him. Selena tells her that Miguel wanted to be with them but he couldn't because of Carmen. Maria tells her that she's had questions for years about why her son really died and Selena is the only one who can tell her. Selena is happy to be able to mourn with someone who loved Miguel as much as she did. She explains that Miguel provided for them but she lost the money and had to resort to prostitution. She tells Maria that her son is angry with her about Miguel's death because there was no one else to blame. Maria gets out of her wheelchair and attacks Selena asking why her son is dead. She thought Carmen loved him but she really hated him. She says that Miguel never said a word while he was being beaten. She says that he died protecting her and that's how much he loved her. Maria believes that Selena betrayed Miguel by not saying anything while he was dying. Selena says she's had to live with that but Maria thinks it's time they take care of it. They are interrupted by her guard saying the police are there. She tells him to take Selena away but Frank and Harley walk in before Selena can leave. They ask if Selena is okay and she says yes. Maria explains that she asked Selena to come over to reassure her she knew the rumors about her being involved in Miguel's murder were false. She says it's over now. Selena backs up her story and Harley calls Buzz to tell him they found her. He wants them to get Selena away from the Santos house.
